We have been a Shining Star pageant family for YEARS, do I still need to fill out ALLLLL the forms?
  • Yep!
  • We archive and store all pageant materials each year.  While we like to think of ourselves as smart cookies, we just can't remember each of item for our girls.  Thanks for your help with that parents!

Who is able to participate in this pageant?
Girls and young women who are in Kindergarten up to age 40 AND have a medical diagnosis and/or an IEP through their school district. Verification must be provided and the final decision rests with the Miss Shining Star Executive board.

When you say "pageant" is this going to be like the show Toddlers & Tiaras?
Absolutely NOT! Our goal is to give each girl a chance to shine for a day.  A chance to celebrate what makes them special.  If you have specific concerns please talk to the Pageant Director. We want this to be a day filled with wonderful memories for all.

Registration is $25.00, what if I can't pay?
We try to keep the costs down for our participants. We want your family to join us!!  If you can't pay the fee or need to make payments please let us know as we have a few scholarships available. Your registration fee is used to help pay for awards, supplies, etc.
**Please note that Scholarships will not be granted for forms submitted AFTER the deadline**

My daughter is in a wheelchair. How will that work?
Bethel Church in Prosser has graciously let us use their facility and it is accessible.  In your registration paperwork please make notes of your concerns so we can match a buddy accordingly.  We have some nurses who are available to be buddies and people that have experience so we will do our best to make a good match.

My daughter has seizures. How will you handle this?
We have nurses and people trained in First Aid/ CPR back stage.  Our on-stage escorts, the Handsome Heroes, are volunteer fire fighters.  Health and safety are our utmost concern.  If you have questions please speak to the Pageant Director.

There is no way I can buy one of those fancy dresses.
The focus on the pageant is not about what's on the outside.  We have some dresses that are available to loan. Girls are also able to connect with other participants on our Facebook site so they can exchange and trade dresses.  We just want you to come and have a great day.  If you ware worried about finding a dress please talk to the Pageant Director.
